Ellie's doing great. We went in and were able to soothe her a bit and hold her. The art of holding a baby hooked up to 10 different wires.
She's getting weaned down off a high amount of oxygen, starting clear fluids for a few hours to practice digesting through the stomach again then it's on to breastmilk in her tummy! That will take all day so they decided to let her stay in ICU and get expensive babysitting until tomorrow morning to be on the way safe side. No prob with us. Saturday is pretty low key around here.
She's still on light sedation so she's in and out but she seems to be happy to see us and is growling at us so she's communicating "hi, ya'll"! She's in a nice crib with a comfy blanket napping now so we're going to eat then go back in.
We have some side projects in the works that are keeping us busy. One is getting a playing card off the ceiling that we'll post about later and another is procuring a hand sanitizer dispenser for our house from nice maintenance people who are changing old ones out. Wouldn't that be nice by the garage door?!
So Ellie has no barriers to getting home soon as far as we can tell. X-ray looks very clear (with a "generous" sized heart - I'm certain Ellie will have a generous heart even after it's fixed) and she's behaving well enough for this day to count as a "recovery" day in her chart to get us home that much quicker. I don't want to jinx us and say the day we're thinking we'll come home but it may be in time to watch Monday night football from our own couch. Oops, maybe I should delete that.
