12/21/14 - Ellie swallows a bite of food, by accident! The following few days are filled with excitement and amazement as she eats for the first time.
12/24/14 - She gets a cold that stops her interest and willingness to eat all together
1/11/15 - Begins to eat again and is happy about it
1/16-18/15 - A trip out of town with a mix of some feedings in her tube for security and some great eating "on the go"
1/18/15 - Last feeding in the tube (in our car coming home which she later threw up because she had snacked so much on the drive)
1/23/15 - Weight check at pediatrician to get a baseline of her eating all by mouth
2/16-20/15 - Ellie gets a nasty stomach bug but amazingly she is a trooper with drinking her water and still taking bites of food
2/19/15 - Weight check right at the end of the virus and she lost quite a bit presumably due to the waste she was putting out
2/20/15-current - Increasing calories as much as possible while still trying to stay healthy. She now seems to have a new cold, this time the stuffy nose kind. Ultimately this is good to show she can hydrate herself but the momentum of the weight gain must continue in the next couple of weeks.
We go back in another week or so, so all the prayers you can throw out for Ellie to gain, gain, gain would be great, great, great!!!
Ellie feeds herself a bowl of cereal.
Pancakes for "Mardi Gras" - I made extra just in case!
She ate 5 whole pancakes!!!!
She ate all this for lunch the other day - mashed potatoes with heavy cream, peanut butter and a whole banana.
This weekend we have some calories planned thanks to a certain terrific 7-year-old turning 8 so hopefully by next week she'll put some numbers on the board.
Bon Appetit everyone!
