We were off to speech (feeding) therapy this morning, outside of the house. We took with us: a bottle, a sippie cup, three spoons, a pacifier, a container of oatmeal mixed with milk and banana, and a syringe with 10 ml of breastmilk.
Overall she was extremely tolerant with this wonderful therapist we've worked with since the beginning. But she still has so very far to go with eating! We got her to eat a few bites of food, but she does not suck on anything at all. And the swallowing part is not natural to her. She thinks the goal is to hold food in her mouth - and spit it back out.
It's all good - we've learned to let go. We're heading back there next week though and meanwhile the nurses have it on their daily list to do all these things with her.
She was a real trooper and smiled the whole time. I think we just need to take her through the McDonald's drive-thru and put all this no-eating nonsense to an end.
